Uploading CSV files

Follow these steps to upload one or more CSV files.

Step 1: Select and upload files

  1. Select the file type: make sure CSV is selected.
  2. Upload files: add one or more CSV files to import.
  3. Optional: add a folder with images or other files if needed.

Step 2: Configure parsing

After uploading the files, go to the next step and wait for parsing to finish.

  1. Select columns: select the columns to import data from.

  2. Specify attributes:

    • Assign names to attributes and markers.
    • Set up the search for images among the uploaded files using one of the values.
    • Specify a search pattern as a regular expression. You can edit the pattern.
  3. Column types:

    • For the name column, select the Name checkbox.
    • For the description, select the Text type.
    • For the price, set the type to Float and select the Contains price checkbox.
    • To set a preview template, use a column of the Image type: select Use as a preview in the product list and choose a template from the Preview templates list.
  4. Add a category column: specify the column for product categories.

Step 3: Select a category

In this step, you can choose a category for the imported products: select the Choose category checkbox and pick a parent category from the Choose Parent list that appears. If you leave the checkbox cleared, no category is set and the products are uploaded to the root directory.

Step 4: Complete the import

  1. Specify the number of products to import.
  2. If needed, save the template for future uploads (the Save as template checkbox).

You can edit a saved CSV template the same way as an Excel one: use the Edit template checkbox in the first step and the Save template only and Save template and import data buttons in the last step. For details, see "Templates: saving and editing" on the Import Catalog from Excel page. That section also covers the Allow additional files upload and Rewrite Files Data checkboxes in step 4.

After the import finishes, make sure all data was uploaded successfully.
